Envelope greeting card holder

Hi everyone, this week we are making a card holder made from two envelopes, a terrific gift for your
non-cardmaking friends, it is sooooo simple to make, but the ones I have given out have been very well received! you can decorated them in any way you wish, a digi image, flowers, rubber stamps, I will have lots of choices on the day. I leave next Thursday for Perth, I am going to visit a couple of friends of mine that I met at different workshops with Floral Punchcraft, it is lovely to be able to go and visit them, and I am really looking forward to it, although not to the heatwave they are having at the moment! it has been over 40C there for a week or more, I am really hoping it will break either before we arrrive, or not long after LOL, but I suppose we will cope.........we think we get it hot in NSW but our maximum is usually about 35C and that is too hot for a delicate little English girl like me!!

Valentines card

A little early I know, but was requested by some of you ladies to teach you how to make the card with box that I made for your Christmas cards, couldn't really do another Christmas card so Valentines day is the next holiday coming up, of course you can decorate it how you want to, I got the pattern from

Hope you enjoy being back, but remember it is only two lessons, then I will be away all of February as I am going on my Jollies to Perth to visit friends. Happy New Year to all my lovely followers!! I know I have been sadly neglectful of visiting you all for the last month but I have just been sooo busy, we have had the wonderful news that my son and his family are really really coming home this year from Japan to live, I have always said, I hope they do but I won't hold my breath, but this time it is happening as he has booked the airfares, they arrive on the 3rd May. I have been frantically sorting and donating and binning 30yrs worth of clutter to give them some space, they will live with me until they get settled and get jobs and their own home. I am sooo thankful xxx

Christmas Baubles

These are Christmas baubles I have been in the process of making since about February this year, I have given them as gifts to the ladies in my craft class, they are very time consuming, but lots of fun once you get to the ribbon part and know you are nearly done!!

Lazy Daisy and Holly

A last minute Chistmas card for me, will have to pop it in the post straight after class and hope it gets to its destination in time! Lazy daisy are just what they sound like, very lazy and laid back, don't think you will have a problem with them at all. The holly is a punched shape, so no cutting involved, a nice easy card to finish our year off.. I would like to take this opportunity of thanking the lovely ladies that come to my class, it has been a joy sharing time with you all, you are terrific people and I know we have become friends over the last couple of years!!! thanks girls and a Very Happy Christmas to you all.

A very easy flower this week, trying to make them easier in the build up to Christmas as we are all so busy..........I did a nice cheery flower as the weather in Australia has been very depressing for a while now, not much of our usual sunshine, a bit cool and lots and I do mean Lots of rain!!

I had a challenging week this week, thought I had a fracture in my foot, but after a bone scan it showed severe arthritis, and that the cartilage between the small bones of the foot had snapped and in some places totally disintegrated, it has been very painful, but am on the mend now.....treatment is the same as for a fracture, wear the boot for a couple of weeks and take it off when it feels better, if it doesn't see a foot and ankle specialist........

On a good note, I had two of my Granddaughters here for the weekend, to help me put up the tree and to allow Mummy and Daddy, to go for a night out to the ""adult place"" as the two year old calls the pub!! we had a great time, put up the tree, made Xmas cookies and generally enjoyed ourselves, it cheered me up no end!!

Back in the land of the living

Sorry I had to cancel last weeks class ladies, but you woúldn't have wanted to catch the bug I have had, it really layed me low for a week, finally went to the Dr's yesterday and she gave me antibiotics (something she doesn't do without you being really sick) she took the oxygen levels of my blood and they were down to 92% and that is after a week of solid coughing, I have slept in the recliner chair for four nights, daredn't lay down, but enough!! I am starting to feel a little better now, still coughing well but not as violently.

This card was put together quite quickly, Tulips!! they can be made in nearly any colour and are a fairly simple flower to make (yes I know I always say that, but ít's usually true eh?)

The symbolic meaning of tulips is fame and perfect love. The symbolic meanings also change with the color of the tulips. Red tulips mean "believe me" and are a declaration of love. Variegated tulips mean "you have beautiful eyes." Yellow tulips mean "there's sunshine in your smile." And cream colored tulips mean "I will love you forever." Tulips are the foremost national symbol of Holland, rivaling wooden shoes and windmills

Seems ages and ages since I made a post on here, the last couple of weeks my class and I were doing christmas cards, and then last week we had a stamping up demo done for us by Rhonda

a christmas card

One of the first cards for this year, lots more to go!! I have been MIA for a while, I went away for a few days in our mobile home, had a wonderful relaxing time. Went on a Jet boat for a whale watching trip, that was so exciting, it went so fast and threw you about a bit LOL, but once you got used to the movement it was FUN.......saw some whales too but they were a bit lazy, couldn't be bothered jumping out of the water for us, just casually flipped a tail now and then, but still awesome to see.

Bow card with Johnny Jumpups

Hi everyone, well here is Monday nights card, it's a bow card which is so easy to make I loved it, and it is a great way of displaying floral punchcraft, the acetate bows out and gives the flowers plenty of room without crushing them. The flowers are mini Viola's or Johnny-Jump-ups I havw no idea why they are named that, maybe they are trying to jump up to Pansy size? or drunk from the poteen the Irish make of the same name...........LOL

I really enjoyed the night out last week with the old man, we went out to dinner and then saw a preview of the movie ""the warrior"" a lot of savage fighting in it, but a good story to it.

A friend of mine lost her Father last weekend, here is a card I made for her. I used the Lillium punch from Leone Em, but adapted the flower to my own specifications, adding a lilac baby lily insert and buds

We can do this as a lesson on Monday night, otherwise we will make Xmas cards! I will be back later to look if there are any challenges I can join this week. I was lucky enough to win a gift voucher last week from Mo Mannings blog hop, I was so excited as I have never won anything before

Friendship flower

Hi Everyone, well I really missed our craft lesson last week, but did enjoy our Japanese visitor, we took him lots of places and I think he had a really good time. He was a nice young man, great manners and a reasonable command of the English language. It was a pleasure to have him in our home. This weeks flower is the Friendship flower. Santa's hat girl with simple blossom

Well ladies it soon comes round to this time of the week again, here is an easy Christmas card for our Monday class, the image is a Mo Manning image named Santa girl with hat, so cute!! I love it, it is coloured with Copic markers the fur of the hat and the snowflake is covered with Martha Stewarts glitter I cut the circles with a Fiskars cutter, the blossoms are simple as they are out of my head LOL, hope you enjoy making it

peekaboo box with miniature roses

Hello to all, getting in early this week for a change, here is a gift box with acetate window, I got the idea from

I decorated the top with miniature roses, the box is 3"x3" so you can work out how tiny they are. The other box is stamped just to give you a choice on how you decorate the box.....it was fun to make and will make a great little gift (probably with a more sophisticated gift inside, the grandkids only had these lollies that I could use) See you all on Monday

Fathers Day

Well it has been sooooooo quiet at my place this last week as you can imagine, no play school on TV every moment of the day, although I have been seriously tempted to put it on as background music! we are all missing the family like crazy. Tomorrow nights class will be this Fathers Day card, I have used a Mo Manning image (I love her work) I painted some white paper with ink pads and punched out small leaves to give dimension, the image is coloured with Copic markers......,then cut out and put on the card with pop dots, again to give a little dimension

Please forgive the poor editing on the photo, my NEW computer has broken down yet again and has gone if for repair under warranty, that is twice since I bought it, three months ago, I am not a happy little vegemite........and so of course my editing programme has gone too.

Sparaxis flower & Lily meets a Roo

Hi everyone, well next weeks lesson will be on Monday night as usual, I will be back in the land of craft again, it seems so long since I did any, but have been much too busy with the family, my little one leaves on Sunday morning and I know it will break my heart, she has been such fun this time we have adored her being here with us, we babysat last night while Darren and Miki took a well earned break and she was very good, missed them of course but nothing too bad a visit from her Uncle Chris whom she adores helped a lot, I think he looks so much like her Daddy she has that affinity to start with. Well here is the Sparaxis flower, quite an easy one once you have the painting down properly, looking forward to seeing you all again

Having a great time

It is just soooo wonderful to see my son and my youngest granddaughter after a year of separation, she is a little girl now instead of a baby, and thank goodness for Skype, she actually knew us when she arrived at the airport and we didn't have that awful waste of a week getting to know her again, she is still a little reluctant at times and is very clingy to her Daddy, but she misses her Mummy of course, that will be rectified next Tuesday and we will all be together for another ten days. The little one adores her two cousins, wish I could get them to stay with me until she leaves LOL, they all play so well together.

Cornflowers or Batchelors Buttons

I absolutely adore Cornflowers and have really enjoyed making these, unfortunately I just didn't feel like putting them on a card so displayed them in a vase so that I can keep making more and adding to them. Interesting facts about cornflowers are:

In folklore, cornflowers were worn by young men in love; ifthe flower faded too quickly, it was taken as a sign that the man's love wasnot returned or wasn't true in the first place, so they always picked the brightest blue one that they could find.

In herbalism, a decoction of cornflower is effective intreating conjunctivitis, and as a wash for tired eyes

It was the favourite flower of John F. Kennedy and was wornby his son, John F. Kennedy, Jr. at his wedding as a tribute to his father.

Cornflowers were also used in the funeral wreath made forPharaoh Tutankhamen.

This may be my last post for a couple of weeks as my Son and Grand daughter are coming home from Japan for a holiday, my DIL will join them for the last ten days. As I don't see them often I have cancelled all lessons until the 15th August, whether or not I survive without any craft for that length of time will be decided later!!! lol

Moth Orchids

G'day girls this is the flower for Monday nights lesson, it is a good one to practice your painting on, you can make it plain white like this with a coloured head, or it comes in other colours like yellow or cerise
Myths and legends surround the sensuous orchid. The very name Orchid is derived from the Greek word-meaning testicle. Claimed to be an aphrodisiac, it was perhaps the first Viagra, when the testicle like roots were crushed and eaten to stimulate sexual activity. Don’t try this at home!!! Hope you enjoy the class!!

This was Pat's choice for this week, when she asked if we could do this one, I said "" sure, I haven't made this one before so that will be great"" what a dill I am, it was one of the biggest challenges I have had in a flower, the centre is made from facial tissue, folded, wet, then glue patted in with the fingers, it was supposed to be painted after it dried, but I thought this may make it too wet again to do on the night, I couldn't buy coloured facial tissues anywhere........do they even make them these days? certainly not in the supermarkets round here, so I had a brainwave and decided to soak them in water to which I added food colouring, patted the glue in.....what a mess!! then because of all this filthy rain we have had here the last week, they have taken over two days to dry....still I got there in the end!!!

Waterlillies

Here is next weeks lesson, the flower that is, I am not capable of teaching the other stuff LOL, it is crafted in Vellum, painted with oil pastels and blended with Zippo lighter fluid! It's a lovely flower to make, comes together beautifully, I am sure you will enjoy.........the flower this week is Sally's choice. I used a Mo Manning image "Finna the Fairy..you can find her here: http://digitalpenciltoo.blogspot.com....I coloured her and the background with "( awww.....can't remember the name, the coloured paints in little pots. The paints are glittery and are the ones from Luminart before Mica colour) Everything glitters on this card, I tried to make it look as tho Finna had floated down in a bubble to land on the waterlillies in the pond :-))

ps. to answer the questions from the last flower, mostly I give the cards I make as gifts, but lately have just been using blue tac to attach the flowers to the cards, then once the lesson is over, I remove them, put them on a long stem and have them in a vase in my dining room, others I have displayed in "shadow boxes" with glass fronts......some are in a box in the wardrobe waiting for stems

Frangipani

Hello friends, here is the lesson for Monday nights class, the Frangipani, it is a very popular tree in Australia, you can cut a branch off, stick it into the ground and it just grows, mind you it takes years!! but the flowers and perfume are worth the wait. It is created with the large balloon punch and the large heart.

Mondays flower

Well here is Monday nights flower, the New South Wales floral emblem........The Waratah. It is not too hard as long as you keep your wits about you LOL.........I seem to have got my computer problems fixed, I just killed the computer!!! so am relegated now to the laptop....the other is five years old so not sure whether or not it is worth fixing. It still goes, so I may have to hook it up today and work it til it dies, it seems to overheat and then knock itself off for a day, then comes back on as if nothing has happened....weird and as to the modem worries, I fixed that, it was a firewall that was actually on the new modem so I disabled that and now I can come visit!! yeah me...........

I hope you all have a very Happy Easter, mine is starting a little rough, my hubby was painting the kitchen last week, took a switch plate off the wall to paint behind it, caused a spark and knocked my computer off, when I tried to restart it just wouldn't have it, I left it overnight and next morning it started again, the internet connection lasted until 3pm and then died, after a lot of there and back with my service provider they decided that it was the modem that had given up the ghost, off I went to buy a new modem, came home and with great difficulty installed it, the internet is fine on every part except blogspot, it lets me come and visit you and look at your cards, but if I want to leave a comment, it says connection timed out, I then have to close my browser and restart, go straight to my blogspot and link to yours then quickly write my comment then when I try to go back, guess what? yep, connection timed out, if there are any computer gurus out there I would be greatful for any help, I think from delving in to things that it is being blocked by a firewall but am not really sure.....so if I don't comment on your cards for a while you will understand why.....

As per your request ladies, a very easy flower along with a box......Lilliums have to be the easiest flower to make and the box is fairly simple too so should be an easy night for you!!. The little butterfly was punched out of small balloons and small hearts....... The photography leaves a lot to be desired today, I am struggling with a flareup of my Lupus at the moment, too much sun while on holiday I think, not to grumble there are others much worse off than I am....

Very late Wild Iris

This is the card I taught tonight, I got back from holidays (had a great time!!) at mid day, hairdressers appointment at 2.15pm and card class at five, what a day! but all my ladies really seemed to enjoy this one, I have a bush of these in my garden and they always look so pretty, only one flower with lots of leaves but they still look good. Have to get cracking with next weeks now. I will be round tomorrow to check out all your blogs, I have missed my craft!!

Granddaughters birthday

My eldest granddaughter is seven today.....wow, where did that time go? she is a darling girl who constantly makes me laugh with the things she says....my Mum would have loved her, and would have said "she has an old head on young shoulders" and she would have been right........love you Chloe Rose!!

The colouring leaves a lot to be desired, but at least it is better than Chloe's lol, only just tho!!

Thanks for all the concern and positive thoughts for my son in Japan, he has decided that there is no threat to him from the radiation so has made the decision to stay, I have to abide by that although I would have preferred them to come home....We had a real success yesterday, our local newspaper reported last Weds that 25 students were here on an exchange trip and their home town was right where the Tsunami hit......only 15 of the girls had contact with family members over there, my son got in contact thru a lot of searching and scouring "people missing" web pages and found an Uncle of one of the girls. He contacted me and asked me to phone the school where they were staying, I did but they had already closed for the day, then I phoned the newspaper that ran the article, they put me in touch with the consular generals department in Sydney, after a lot of phone calls, emails and txt messages they finally got back to me to let me know that the young lady was arriving in Tokyo that evening and that they had arranged for her Uncle to meet her there........a happy ending for one more of them........some of the others are going back to complete devastion, no food, freezing temperatures, nothing at all.....it breaks my heart.......

Here is the card for this week's lesson......sorry to be so late but I have been really busy and very worried about my son in Japan........he and his family are fine thank God they live a long long way from the epicentre, but now of course we are worried about the nuclear reactors, some tv reports have said that if they go, half of Japan will be contaminated, others say it is under control and no need to worry, but of course that is what we Mum's do best isn't it? I have been overwhelmed with the amount of messages, phone calls from interstate and from England, plus text messages and emails, I didn't realise I had so many good friends that would show their concern......My son has asked that we send him small clip on Koalas so that he can send them to day care centres in the worst hit areas, some of these children were in daycare at the time and are safe but have lost all their family in one sad blow, it breaks my heart to think of it.

Anyway here is this weeks card, poppies, an easy flower to make but difficult to display I found

Its my middle Granddaughters birthday today, here is the card I quickly made for her, I am not as good at colouring as most of you ladies that follow, but I did my best, I coloured the image which is a Mo Manning image......Penelope's party wagon...........with copics, I painted the number and covered it with dimensional magic and small pearls. The vase of flowers below are leftover flowers from previous classes, long rolled stems added as I end up with too many cards. I have tried numerous times to try and make the birthday card fit properly by resizing but it just won't have it, so forgive my poor editing skills too!!!

A gift box with blooms

Here is another project for the classes this week, I don't think we will manage to get it all finished in one lesson, it took me four hours! and there are still two more types of flower to add, there is a box underneath and the flowers are on the lid, this card is ideal if you want to give someone a really special gift, the box is about 2" x 2" so is perfect for earrings, bracelet, necklace etc. The paper I used was all shimmer paper, moonbeam was one and gold another, it hasn't photographed very well, it is a lot more delicate IRL. We will finish it next week and add the other flowers, the trick is to get them in a position that you can still lift off the lid without damaging the flowers, hope you enjoy!!!

On a footnote, my hubby was fine after his tests, but they found a bacteria in his stomach which had given him an ulcer ( see I wasn't to blame after all ha ha) but I did say "well maybe they really didn't wash the tube!!!" ???????? Last night he went for a sleep study for sleep apnoea, neither of us slept very well, it was soooo quiet in our room without his snoring!! and he had too many wires attached for a comfy night, I suppose I complain too much about the noise but I won't again, as I can't sleep without it, after nearly forty years together it's no wonder really is it?

I am going to a friends baby shower on Sunday and the invitation asked for no presents but for information that we could share with the new Mum to let her know we were thinking about her and her new baby, this is what I came up with after a lot of deep thinking LOL, it was supposed to be a letter or some advice but I thought if it's something worth doing it is worth crafting!!

The card for next weeks lesson is a pretty flower that looks like an open rose, here I have displayed it as a candle holder, but we will be putting it on a card. I hope you will enjoy it!!

I have been able to spend a little time crafting this morning as hubby is in day surgery for a colonoscopy and gastroscopy..........I left him with the message to tell the nurses to make sure that they washed the tube between procedures!!!..............ha ha

For next weeks lesson we are doing Daffodils, even now in our hot hot hot summer, they make me feel like spring. I have two types you can choose from, the mini one is one that is in the FPC book, it always seems a little small to me, the other is using same method but a different punch. I am not sure yet what day we will be meeting, it depends on the lady on holiday but as soon as I have contacted her I will let you know...........happy crafting!!

Hi Everyone, hope you all had a great Xmas and new year, I had a lovely one spending eight days in the Blue Mountains with some good friends. We had a lovely relaxing time. I have done this one a little early as I am celebrating???????? my 60th Birthday on Sunday, (don't know if celebrating is the right expression LOL) but I think or hope I will be busy over the weekend!!!! Here is the flower we will be doing next Monday, it is a simple blossom, you can make it in any colour. The circle I put it on was made with the corner punch from my new Martha Stewart punch around the page, I love the result it has given.

This is the card we will be doing on Monday night ladies, I want to wish you all a Very Happy Christmas and a safe and Healthy New Year and thank you so very much for the support you have given over the last year. On a personal level I will be happy to see this year end and hope for a new start in the next one, we have recently had lots of health issues in my close family, my eldest son having had a heart attack age 39yrs, he will probably end up having a stent in one of his coronary arteries, my youngest son is suffering badly with post traumatic stress syndrome after 11yrs serving as a policemen.......seen some horrific things and now not dealing with them too well. This last week my DIL was rushed into hospital, severe ulcerative tonsillitis, for which she had to have intravenous antibiotics and morphine for the pain in her throat, plus other medications to stop her vomiting as the infection from her throat had gone thru her system. She is a little better today. I have had both Grand daughters for two days, and then last night a welcome relief we took the eldest one to see the Chrismas lights at Hunter Valley Gardens, they were beautiful and we and a couple of good friends had a great time watching her face and seeing her enjoy herself.
A Merry Christmas too to all my blogging buddies, I have enjoyed meeting you all! making friends with people in other parts of the world has been a joy, safe and happy new year to all of you

I'm Back!!!!

Hey all, we arrived home last night after having a great time with our good friends Barb & Darryl, we saw and did some amazing things, the waterfalls I have already shown you, we went Sapphire fossicking two days last week and had a fantastic time, it was very hot and steamy tho, and the flies!!! well enough said!!! needed a hat with corks that's for sure and will certainly be looking for one next time.........and there will be a next time, hubby and I have certainly been bitten by the bug, always looking for the bigger stone
Here are some photos of the stones we found, there is onyx, the bigger pile of dark stones are Sapphires, the clear ones at the bottom is Zircon (wish they were diamonds) there are a few Rubies at the bottom and the others are ????? but we will hope to find out..........next time we are gold hunting!! lol

One week gone already, we have had lots of fun, but lots of rain too, it is starting to fine up now these last couple of days, but because we are high we are feeling it very cool. I had to buy a couple of long sleeve shirts today. We have travelled up and down the Waterfall Way and because of all the rain, the waterfalls have been tremendous, we have met some really nice people along the way, that is the beauty of caravanning. Had to get this card ready early for the class next week as this weekend I am looking after two of my darling Granddaughters while their parents have a bit of a break. I will have a nearly two year old and a nearly seven year old, they are staying three nights, it will be a bit of a challenge as the youngest has never slept anywhere but home at night before. Wish me luck LOL
Next weeks card is this Rhododendron, it is a nice flower to make, but is time consuming.......hope we get it all done in the one night but if not we will carry it over, it's just a matter of being methodical and doing each stage in turn, we will start with the stamens, then the leaves giving both a chance to dry while we do the flowers, I am sure you will enjoy the finished card, there are twelve flowers on this truss, each flower has 5 petals, so that is 60 petals per person, plus 12 stamens, 6 leaves and a stem..........imagine what my hands and arms feel like tonight, I have punched all the shapes out for you!! That is 79 shapes each person! wow!

I am having a wonderful week this week, a good friend of mine is visiting from Melbourne, she is also a teacher of Floral Punchcraft and we are having a ball, sightseeing during the day and crafting at night, she will be here to join in the class next Monday and she is the "Queen of the roses" in my eyes, I downloaded photos of her roses for inspiration years ago even before I knew her, and it was she that taught me how to paint them to look natural........Jan I am glad you are here!! We both made a rose card and this is what we will teach on Monday night, more for the painting and the displaying than the flowers. Jans are on the black card and mine on the purple

Here is the Poinsettia Christmas card I made for next Monday's class I am early this week for a change!! I used a frame folder from Cuttlebug to frame this flower and I am pleased with the result, the flowers are two sizes one having less petals than the other, and of course my favourite maiden hair fern punched out of gold paper as a concession to Xmas............poetic licence LOL!!

Started the Christmas cards and as it's a long weekend here in Australia this week, there is no class on Monday night, so a good chance to do something without flowers for a change. I used a Fiskars Corner/Border punch and layered it over Gold embossed paper, then used gold embossing paste for the stencil, I added Martha Stewarts gold glitter to the embossing paste before it dried.

Lily of the Valley

I must admit this is one flower that makes me homesick for England, we used to have a wild patch in the garden of the last house I lived in. It is notoriously hard to grow, but again will grow in the hedgerows and woodlands as a weed. I was lucky and it got established in a small corner of the garden under a tree, and used to come up each year, it was always something I looked forward to. It is something I can't say I have seen here in Australia, perhaps my friends will be able to tell me on Monday. Today is my Fathers birthday, he is 85yrs young and has spent the day making our Xmas puddings!! he baked the Xmas cake yesterday.......I hope he has another 10yrs with us, as it is one job I don't want to take over!!

Two Cards today

I must have been having a creative splurge, or maybe I am just missing my family, but I have made two cards over the last couple of days, the first is just to show that a lot of these flowers can be made flat i.e. without moulding, so that they can be posted in an envelope or added to a scrapbook page..........so here it is a flat bottlebrush flower I painted the stem.......lol as you can tell......with my copics, it is a bit fat for the flower, but couldn't be altered, I got carried away!! I placed it on silver glitter card and made it red for Xmas.

The second card is the one we will be doing on Monday night, it can be made in any colour, I just love that vibrant pink for some flowers.

Bells and Bouquet Wedding card, a new Blog design and tearful goodbyes

Well what an eventful week this week, my son who is visiting from Japan had a look at my blog and said "really Mum, this needs a lot of work, it is much too fussy, it should be easier for people to see your cards, not all the flowers and stuff down the side, so I replied "Go for it son!!" I have no idea what I am doing at the best of times! The flowers are actually made out of gold and the main out of pearlised white but it is difficult to show on here.

So here it is........a much cleaner and eyecatching blog ( I hope) LOL, I must admit I like it, love the banner he made me. The card for this weeks lesson is Bells and Bouquet.......you can use this for any celebration, but if you know the colours of the flower girls dresses etc, you can tone it to match. I really enjoyed revisiting this old favourite, I hope you do too. My darling family leave on Sunday, it has been a wonderful month with them, I am certainly not looking forward to saying goodbye, I am sure I will be a wreck at the airport, I am starting to get teary eyed even now, we are having a family BBQ tonight with my other son, DIL and grandchildren and then tomorrow we are leaving early for Sydney where we will spend the day, and then stay overnight before a very early drive to the airport.......we have to be there for 5am for their flight at 7am......keep us in your thoughts!!

Tissue Box

Hi everyone, these are the flowers that we will do next Monday, a very simple flower, plus how to make a box for your cards, I have put my flowers this week on a tissue box, so that I could enter a different challenge, but it is exactly the same principles as putting them on a card, the only thing I did that was different was to paint the flowers after moulding them, I used "Mod Podge" it gives them a good covering, makes them stronger and hopefully helps with the dusting of them!!!

Lesson for Monday

Here is Monday's lesson, yet another Australian Native, the Bottlebrush.....a lot more involved than I remembered, so maybe we may not get it all done in one lesson, but I hope so, if not, we will finish the following week, plus make a smaller flower. All the shapes have to be folded, shaped and painted, and then assembled on to a "calyx" so it is very labour intensive. The better news is I am sooo much better this week, I have had a great week with my family, we have been and done so many things, one of them being Whale watching at Port Stephens, we were lucky to see a number of whales, but none of them did the breeching for us, but we saw quite a few Tails!!! Please excuse the quality of the picture, I am not having any luck lately with my camera.

I have been so very sick with a virus this week that it has been a struggle to make a card and that is why I am so late in posting. My family are on holiday from Japan at the moment, and I was just toooo ill to even go to the airport, they arrived Weds morning and I first saw them on Thursday night. I am feeling much better now tho and my DDIL helped me make the card for this week poor love had never held a tool or punched a flower in her life so did a great job, she has taken over the kitchen.....god love her!! I had to postpone my class yesterday as I was busy babysitting our eldest Granddaughter for the day, it's school holidays over here and so I am having both girls a few days of this week. Yesterday we went to Sydney for the day we had a great time visiting the aquarium, she was most impressed with the sharks!
Here are three cards I have prepared for a full day workshop I am holding on Friday, it is a mixed group of mothers with children of different ages, so I have tried to keep the flowers really easy for them to start with.

Here is the flower that caused me so many problems last week, we will be doing it tomorrow, a lot of work in this one girls, you have to paint the petals, shape the flower, make a calyx, then a set of stamens, then you prepare the stems, double thickness!! and then comes the arranging, at least we are starting early eh? lol, its not hard, just fiddly!!

Here is this weeks lesson, the Nerine, due to circumstances way beyond my control, I am very late in posting it so please accept my apologies, I am sure you will understand when I talk with you tomorrow ladies! The nerine flower is quite an easy flower to make but setting it on the stem poses a few problems, I am hoping in tomorrows lesson to finish this one and make a start at least punching out the following weeks flower which will be Agapanthus or Lily of the Nile, there is such a lot of work in that one that I think we won't manage it in one lesson

Another card for another challenge, Just Magnolia, the rules for the challenge is to add some pleated lace to the card. Here is the card for next weeks lesson.......Pansies...........I used Large balloon, medium heart, large heart and small balloon punches.......painted with Copics but I think watercolours may have given a better result? maybe next time

Jam Tilda with Blossoms

Well I had to cancel last weeks lesson as I had tummy bug, I am all better now, and will teach the rose next week. Today I have been playing with a few "Tilda's" that a kind friend sent to me!! Here is my version of the cherry blossom with Jam Tilda sitting under the tree. I got some Copics while in Japan so am enjoying playing with those too and the background is done with a tiny cherry blossom stamp that I purchased in Japan too.

This is the card I made for next weeks lesson, it is a big rose so has to go on a full A4 Card folded in half. A lot of work and shaping goes into it.

I'm Back.............

Had a fantastic holiday, the sakura were magnificent, Lilyan Rei was delightful, I have been a bit down since I got home, I suppose everyone feels that way after a perfect holiday, but mine is sadness at leaving my little granddaughter. I don't have too long to wait hopefully til they visit Australia, they are hoping to come in July...here's keeping fingers and toes crossed, it will take me a while to get back into craft mode, but have to get the card ready for next weeks lesson, so am hoping to make a start on that tomorrow. Looking forward to catching up with you all again

Having a whale of a time in Japan

Hey everyone, we are having a terrific time in Japan, we are thoroughly enjoying our beautiful grandaughter. The weather hasn't been the best, but we are making the most of it, one day last week it snowed!! The cherry blossom or Sakura are just getting to their best and we are hoping to attend many Hanamis or festivals this coming week, the castle in the above photo is Osaka Castle. We are going to Kyoto next week to see the Myako-Odori which is a cherry blossom dance performed for foreignors, Geisha girls play traditional customs. Before this starts we are attending a "tea ceromony" we have reserved seating so will actually be served by Maiko girls...and will recieve a traditional gift.........so looking forward to that, it will be a great experience.

Here is our lesson for the first week I am back which will be Monday 26th April........Gum blossom!! a lovely quick flower to make but looks impressive.....I leave for my trip to Japan on Thursday, early hours of the morning......so be good :-) and take care til I come home

Hina-Matsuri Day

It is an origami emperess. I used Mizuiki cord for luck under the white opalescent card, then folded the emperess from washi paper.

Flannel Flower

Hi everyone, next weeks class will be a Flannel Flower, we are going to concentrate on Australian native flowers for the next few lessons, thinking about it tho, I think there will only be another two classes, then I will be MIA for seven weeks, while I visit my gorgeous granddaughter and DS and DIL in Osaka Japan. May have to take a few punches with me or I will go stir crazy without any craft.......copics are in Japan tho!!! lol, hopefully they will be cheaper, I am making a visit to "The Loft" in Kobe, which was my favourite shop to visit last time having two whole floors dedicated to craft.
